Overwhelmed

Have you ever been through a season where you just felt overwhelmed? A season in which the pressure just seemed like it was too much for you to handle? A time when you didn’t think you could take any more? Truth be told, at some point in life we’ve all been there! So what can you do about it? How can you turn it around? What is the formula for peace?

Let’s look to the Word of God. Psalm 61:2 says, “Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” It sounds so simple, but when we are in situations of intense pressure and stress, we must go to the Rock. In Matthew 16, Jesus asked Peter, “Who do men say that I am?” Peter answered, “Thou art Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus then said, “Upon this rock will I build my church.” A rock is solid, strong, immovable. The foundational principle that Jesus is the Son of the Most High God is the rock. We can run to that rock! Christ is our foundation, our strength when we’re weak.

Next, Jesus said He must go to heaven so the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, could come and dwell in you and me (John 16:7). The Holy Spirit is peace and comfort – and HE is IN YOU! When you are overwhelmed, you can call on the Rock, the Comforter inside you. He is an ever-present help in the time of need. He is always there, IN you, ON you and AROUND you. Today, call on the name of the Lord, believe on Him, trust in Him, and He will bring you a peace that passes all understanding.
